Frisco French Toast

One of my favorite places in the world is Frisco, Colorado. Our family loves to ski, and we’ve been going there for the past 15 years. During our visits, we ski, play board games and—of course—eat and drink. This is a perfect Sunday morning breakfast even if you are not about to hit the slopes! It’s best if you make it the night before.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup honey nut cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 12 pieces challah
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk

Preparation

  • Butter a deep baking dish with 2 tablespoons butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. Combine the cream cheese, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl, and mix. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture in between challah slices, making triple-stacked sandwiches. Cut in half and arrange to fit in the prepared baking dish. Mix eggs and milk together until combined. Pour over the challah sandwiches and refrigerate overnight. The next day, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Bake the French toast 45 to 60 minutes or until set and starting to caramelize on top.
