Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate Mousse Related:   desserts & sweets, gluten-free, kid-friendly, low-fat, pareve, Shabbat, Shavuot, vegan, vegetarian

Prep time: 5 minutes + refrigeration

Cook time: 2–3 minutes

Yield: 2-4 servings

Recipe contributed by Janet Getz, who adds: Serve cold. Great with berries! Double or triple recipe to serve a larger group. If you cannot find silken tofu at local stores, Mori-Nu brand is available online. Photo and notes by Linda Wolpert.


  • 1 11½-ounce container silken tofu (unrefrigerated)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips


  • Whip tofu in blender. Melt chocolate chips in microwave or over double boiler. Mix tofu and melted chocolate together until blended and uniform color. Pour into serving bowl. Chill in refrigerator until set.
  • Linda’s Notes: For a grown-up twist, add about 1 teaspoon of instant coffee crystals and a good splash of schnapps.
