Israel, a politically correct country on all the wrong matters, replaced Mother’s Day in the 1990s with the broader Family Day. My mother never forgave nor did she forget.

As a tribute to all Israeli mothers, who don’t get to celebrate a day of their own, why not prepare an Israeli-style brunch of open burek with labneh, creamy kale and poached egg next to a simple salad of raw zucchini ribbons and yellow tomatoes?
