Pride is about exploring cultures and being true to ourselves. So this drink only uses pre-Columbian ingredients. And of course, it’s bright pink! In other gay bars, we go with simple drinks, like vodka soda or a beer. But for us, I wanted something that’s still simple and uncomplicated in flavor, but that has distinct personality and purpose. It’s appealing and refreshing.

Ingredients

  • 1½ ounces Espadin mezcal
  • 1½ ounces jicama sour mix (equal parts jicama juice, lemon juice and simple syrup mixed together)
  • Hibiscus-soaked jicama stick for garnish (steep dried hibiscus flowers in boiling water, cool and soak jicama stick in)

Preparation

  • Mix mezcal and sour mix together, and serve on the rocks garnished with the jicama stick.
