Summer Mezze Spreads: Harissa and Spicy Feta

If you’re building a summer mezze platter, you can find most of what you need already prepared at the grocery store: hummus, roasted red peppers, tzatziki, seasoned nuts. However, harissa and spicy feta are two simple dip recipes you can add in to give your platter a homemade touch. Both of these spreads keep beautifully, so you can add them to sandwiches, salads and more later on, too.
Ingredients
- Harissa
- 1 15-ounce can tomato paste
- ½ cup olive oil, plus more if needed
- 1/3 cup crushed red pepper
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- ½ tablespoon salt
- ½ tablespoon black pepper
- Spicy Feta
- 8 ounces crumbled feta
- 2 jalapeños, seeds in, minced finely, plus extra slices for garnishing
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Drizzle of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Harissa: Pulse all ingredients together in a food processor. Add in more olive oil as needed until you’ve reached a spreadable consistency. Serve with an extra drizzle of olive oil to top.
- Spicy Feta: Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl. Finish with a fresh cracked pepper and a garnish of jalapeño slices.
