The classic gin fizz is a bright cocktail containing gin, acidic citrus juice, sugar and carbonated water. A few tweaks and a great apple flavor make this fall gin fizz perfect for the cool weather. Keep in mind that each brand of gin tastes different and will change the character of this drink. Some are sweet and floral, while others have that classic dry gin flavor of juniper. If you don’t think you’re a gin fan, you probably haven’t found the right one yet! We have lots of great varieties of gin made locally in the DC-Maryland-Virginia region, so drink local!

Ingredients

  • 1½ ounces gin
  • ½ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ ounce maple syrup
  • Ice
  • 3-4 ounces hard apple cider
  • Apple slice for garnish

Preparation

  • In a cocktail glass, stir gin, lemon juice and maple syrup until the syrup dissolves. Add several pieces of ice and stir again. Top with hard cider. Garnish with a slice of apple.
