DIY Pumpkin Pie Spice

It’s easy to blend up your own pumpkin pie spice using ingredients that you already have in your kitchen. The recipe is given in proportions so that you can make as little or as much as you like. For example, “1 part” could be 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon. And feel free to add or take out any spice that you don’t like or have on hand—that’s the beauty of making your own spice blends!
Ingredients
- 2 parts ground cinnamon
- 1 part ground ginger
- ½ part ground nutmeg
- ¼ part ground cardamom
- ¼ part ground allspice
- Dash of ground mace
Preparation
- Mix all ingredients together in a jar. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 year. Add to pumpkin pie, apple cakes, chocolate chip cookies, rugelach or even homemade ice cream. Not into sweets? Brew a spoonful of the blend with your morning coffee. Or better yet, sprinkle this mixture over cubed sweet potatoes or slices of delicata squash, add salt and pepper to taste and then roast at 400 degrees until tender and caramelized. Be creative with it!
