This Sunday, June 9, is the day. Union Market is the place. Noon to 5 is the time. [email protected] is the occasion, and YOU are what’s needed to make it a very special celebration!
Come rain or shine, [email protected] is the place to be this weekend for fun for all ages with food, music, activities, a shuk marketplace and more.
Inside the JFE tent, enjoy a full program of cooking demonstrations, talks and tastings with some of the area’s leading chefs and cookbook authors including Joan Nathan, Paula Shoyer, Beth Kanter and Sheila Kaufman. Stay for the cookbook sale and book signings throughout the day. (See the full schedule at the end of this article.)
Outside of the JFE tent, there’s more great food and drink plus fun activities for all ages. In the Beer and Wine Garden, you will have a chance to taste for the first time in the US three award-winning beers—IPA, Dark Ale and Wheat Ale—from Srigim Craft Brewery in Mateh Yehuda, DC’s Israel partnership region. There will also be Goldstar and wine from boutique wineries in Israel.
An assortment of local restaurants including DGS and Equinox plus seven food trucks will share their kosher and/or vegetarian takes on Israeli festival food.
Stop by The Shuk to take home beautiful work from artisans and the tastes of Israel such as Soom Foods’ tehina and olive oil plus dates from Israeli Harvest. In the family zone, you will find arts and crafts, games, face painting, an “archeological dig” and the PJ Library Book Nook. On the family stage enjoy the always lively Mama Doni Band and Israeli dancing by area students among others.
The main stage will bring to the party the sounds of some of Israel’s best musicians—Mosh Ben Ari, Moshav and Mook E.
For easy access, hop on metro to the NoMa-Gallaudet stop on the red line. A short 10-minute walk or shuttle bus ride will deliver you to all the fun.
Sundays should always be this good!
