The Jewish Table: Conversation (and Nosh) with Acclaimed Food Critics Phyllis Richman & Todd Kliman
Sunday, June 16, 2019
2:00 PM — 5:00 PM
10 Ridge Road
Greenbelt, MD 20770 United States
Phyllis Richman, longtime food critic of The Washington Post and Todd Kliman, former food critic of The Washingtonian, both grew up in Greenbelt and Mishkan Torah Synagogue. Come hear them discuss their journeys from Mishkan Torah babies to nationally acclaimed food critics.
Was there something about Greenbelt and Mishkan Torah that helped shape their careers? How did Jewish food and Jewish food rituals play a part in their evolution? How did their Jewish backgrounds influence their food criticism? And what role does the Jewish table play today in the cultural psyche?
After the conversation, attendees will be invited to talk with Phyllis and Todd while noshing on a diverse sampling of Jewish foods savored by both our fathers and mothers. In addition, in honor of Father’s Day, all adult attendees are welcome to join in a toast of schnapps in honor of all our dads!
PLEASE NOTE: Reservations required by June 9. No walk-ins.
Miskan Torah follows the Kashrut standards set by the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement. This event will include dairy and fish. No meat will be served.
