Washington, DC 20001 United States

Free Event Metro-accessible Volunteer Opportunities

This month, the EDCJCC is joining forces with Holy Trinity Catholic Church to fight hunger in the District by serving a meal at So Others Might Eat (SOME).

SOME is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. They meet immediate, daily needs of those they serve with food, clothing, and health care. They also offer services such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling.

Volunteers will set up the dining room, serve the meal, interact with SOME’s lunch guests, and clean up. We will also spend a few minutes discussing how serving others resonates with each of our faith traditions.

Please wear closed-toe shoes, have your hair tied back, and bring a hat if you prefer not to wear a hairnet. No tank-tops please.Gloves, hairnets, and aprons will be provided.

If you have a respiratory or stomach ailment, for health safety reasons, please volunteer another time.

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to participate, no exceptions please.

If you have any questions, please email Sonya at [email protected]
