Do Good this Thanksgiving with PJ Library

Let’s Do Good to help those facing hunger and homelessness in our community this Thanksgiving. For the second year in a row, PJ Library and Federation’s Jewish Food Experience® are doing our part at the Edlavitch DCJCC’s annual Everything But The Turkey (EBTT) service day, which benefits DC Central Kitchen.

Kids will engage in volunteer work and exemplify the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world) as they create Thanksgiving turkey centerpieces and pack snack bags for those in need. We will also have PJ Library story time to help your kids learn the role they can play in providing food for all.

COST: $20 per family to cover the cost of food and supplies

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please bring one can of unexpired food to create your Thanksgiving turkey centerpiece, which will be donated to DC Central Kitchen along with the snack bags.

QUESTIONS:
Email [email protected] or call 301-230-7292 for more information.

Everything But The Turkey (EBTT) is an event organized by the Edlavitch DCJCC’s Morris Cafritz Center for Community Service, where volunteers prepare Thanksgiving-themed side dishes that help those experiencing hunger and homelessness in the District enjoy some Thanksgiving warmth and cheer the week of the Thanksgiving holiday. The program runs for three days to allow more people to be able to enjoy it – including a special edition for families with young children and one just for young professionals in the city.\

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington welcomes the participation of interfaith couples and families, and people of all abilities, backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations. Building an inclusive community is a Federation priority. We strive to accommodate all needs whenever possible; advance notice is required. Please contact us at 301-230-7200, and we will make every effort to meet your needs.

Photographs will be taken at this event, and your picture may appear on our website or in other publications. If you do not want your image to appear, please contact us at 301-230-7200 so that we may honor your request.

Cost: $20.00
