Beyond the Bagel: Program Grants for Interfaith Families is an initiative of InterfaithFamily/DC and the Jewish Food Experience® with generous support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington. These grants are designed to fund Shabbat and Jewish holiday meals hosted by individuals raised in interfaith or intercultural families, couples in which partners come from different faiths or backgrounds, and/or for groups in which some members may be from other religious or cultural or backgrounds.
Food is one of the ways in which we can make room for different identities and around our communal table. We hope that these grants will make it easier to create a meaningful, accessible and personalized Jewish holiday experience. With funding, materials and consultations provided by IFF/DC and JFE®, participants will have the resources to make Judaism their own, to try a new recipe or ritual or learn more about a new holiday and to welcome guests into their homes.
This grant will provide $15 per person for gatherings between 8 to 20 people.
Applications are only considered if submitted four (4) weeks prior to the event. Support is awarded on a rolling basis, and InterfaithFamily/DC will make every effort to notify applicants of our decision within one (1) week of the grant being submitted.
Please contact Rabbi Sarah Tasman, InterfaithFamily/DC Director at [email protected] with any questions, and submit applications to her by email by June 30, 2016.
