A private tour of Bethesda Central Farm market!  

Savor the sights, smells and stories of our region’s largest farmer’s market. Go “Behind the Booth” with Federation’s Jewish Food Experience® at Bethesda Central Farm Market during a private walking tour with its co-founder, Mitch Berliner.
After the tours, at 11:00 a.m. both tour groups are invited to stay and enjoy a conversation with cookbook author Marcia Friedman, and receive free recipes
and tips.

Mitch Berliner, a trailblazer and entrepreneur in the food industry for over 35 years, has been instrumental in making the Greater Washington area a world-class food market. He started with a gourmet-to-go concept in 1971 and then founded Berliner Foods in 1974. After it was acquired in 1985, he opened Berliner Specialty Distributors and, later on, co-founded Central Farm Markets and MeatCrafters with his wife, Debra Moser.

Marcia Friedman is a home cook, recipe developer and the author of Meatballs and Matzah Balls: Recipes and Reflections from a Jewish and Italian Life. Her recipes and writing has appeared in Tablet Magazine, Washington Jewish Week, Interfaith Family and The Forward among others. Marcia has visited Jewish groups across the country to lead discussions on her Jewish-Italian culinary journey and the cuisine of Italy’s Jews. She also serves on the advisory council for Federation’s Jewish Food Experience®.
